Robin Bell - Director
Robin is the head of the Cash & Liquidity team for a major investment bank. Through his job, Robin is also a key part of a volunteering initiative that involves engaging with primary schools in deprived areas across Glasgow to directly interact with the children to help teach & develop essential life skills. He has lived in Gartcosh for 10 years having grown up close by in Lenzie. Robin recently took on the role of Treasurer for the Gartcosh Primary School Parents Council.
Craig Cremlin - Director / Secretary
Craig has spent his career in HR tech sales, working in several leadership positions and now at Director level. He’s spent the last 5 years mentoring underprivileged high school students through charities like career ready. Craig has been a member of the GTRA for 5 years, lived in Gartcosh since 2007 and brings over 2 decades of corporate experience to the group.
Andy Fairchild - Director
Andy is a former Army Combat Medic / Nurse, serving 12 years in various locations around the world. He has been involved in voluntary organisations within Gartcosh with over 8 years on the Gartcosh Primary School Parent Council (several years as Chair), Secretary of Gartcosh Social Club and a member of Friends of Gartcosh. Andy also works for Poppy Scotland annual appeal. He, his wife and children have lived in Gartcosh for over 17 years.
Arlene Langford - Director
Arlene studied Music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama and performed as a freelance musician / teacher. Ensembles Manager - National Youth Orchestras of Scotland, running orchestras’ tours, including China and an appearance at the London Proms. Arlene has lived in Gartcosh for 12 years, set up her private teaching business to teach piano from home to Gartcosh pupils and beyond. Arlene is a committee member of the Gartcosh Parent & Toddlers and Playgroup and has a child at Gartcosh Primary School.
Cllr Greg Lennon, Local Councillor for Gartcosh - Associate Director
Greg, our local councillor, brings over 20 years of experience in the public and voluntary sectors, having led various Council services and Charitable Organisations throughout his career. With his extensive experience in Community Development and a proven track record in funding, Greg is well-equipped to assist the development trust moving forward. As a local Councillor who has lived in the area for over 16 years and raised his children here, Greg is deeply committed to supporting our village's efforts in making Gartcosh a thriving community for all.
Isobel Kelly - Director / Treasurer
Isobel was founder and Chief Executive of a medical company after a career as a nurse specialising in operating theatre techniques. The company listed on the stock exchange in 2002 and retired in 2013. Isobel and her family has lived in Gartcosh for over 40 years. Chair of the GTRA /Vice Chair of the Northern Corridor Community Board. She is a recipient of the Community Volunteer Provost’s Award (2023).
Cathy McGinty - Director
Cathy has experienced a number roles locally. She was part of the administration staff in British Steel (Gartcosh), within the care sector delivered Gartcosh and latterly in Mount Ellen Golf Course. She was born at Garnkirk in the Gartloch Whisky Distillery cottages. Cathy has lived in Gartcosh for 50 years, a founder member of the GTRA and treasurer of the Northern Corridor Community Forum. She is a font of local knowledge.
Colin Nicholson - Director
Colin has worked in IT his whole career and is currently CTO for a Miami insurtech startup. Colin was a founding member of GTRA and served as secretary until 2019, and has lived in Gartcosh since 2007.
John Wales - Director / Chairman
John is a customer success leader with a background in recruitment advertising, digital marketing and print advertising. He has lived in Gartcosh since 2017 and has been a volunteer / committee member of the GTRA for 5 years.
Linda Walker - Director
Linda is a retired nurse specialising in midwifery. She worked in the NHS for over 42 years and held community and senior midwifery posts in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Linda was voted UK Midwife of the year in 2019 recognising her service and commitment to Midwifery. Linda has lived in Gartcosh for 38 years. She served as secretary to the GTRA from 2019-2022.
